Hi, I’m Peta and I am the photographer behind Peta Nikel Photography. I specialise in capturing precious Maternity, Newborn and Milestone moments.
As a Maternity and Newborn photographer I believe it is my job to ensure my images are ageless, classic and believable.
As a mum and wife myself, I understand how important it is to have these first memories of your children and to ensure they are a true reflection of you and your family. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then I want those thousand words to be the most treasured, heartwarming, brilliant and loved words ever!
With my award winning creative skills and your unique story, I believe we can capture a picture worth more than a thousand words. In fact, I believe we can create an image that might just leave you speechless.
I would love to invite you to my creative space. My studio is located in Honeywood, just 25 minutes from Hobart surrounded by nature and beauty; the perfect place to enjoy these first moments with your newborn.

I had my first session with Peta, a week after my little bundle was born. I can assure you my anxiety was through the roof. I knew I had to express milk there and generally a new environment while having my pictures taken was new to me.
I was so nervous until I walked in her door!

An amazing experience! Highly recommend. We will be coming back!! Our first baby arrived over 2 weeks late leaving us to re-schedule our session once but twice, Peta was more than understanding and accomodating of us. As a first parents we had a lot of anxiety about how baby was going to react during the session. Peta settled our nerves within minutes of arriving, the studio was warm, quiet and calm. I had a newborn session with Peta back in August. Being a first time mum, I was extremely nervous and unsure what to expect. Peta provided all the necessary information prior to the session which made me feel much more at ease. On the day of the session I was unsure how settled my baby would be, and if I would be able to settle him for Peta to be able to photograph. Especially considering he is generally a very awake baby. I need not have worried. As soon as I arrived I felt calm and the space was very relaxing. Peta instantly gave us a complete run down on how our session was planned. Our little man was quite unsettled from Day one so I was a little worried how our photoshoot might go, however Peta is a natural! She was gentle and patient throughout the whole process, able to resettle Bub without any hesitation – we did ask if we could hire her out for home!! Not only was she so organised, having everything I had requested preprepared, our newborn was so relaxed with her he slept through the entire shoot!
